Maggie J. Rankin

Maggie Jean Rankin, 64, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at her home. She was born July 8, 1962 to Willie and Lillie Ollie in Mississippi.

Maggie graduated from North High School in Des Moines, Iowa. She was primarily a homemaker, taking loving care of her home and family. She enjoyed cooking, socializing with family, dancing, and visiting Prairie Meadows.

Maggie is survived by her husband, Gerald Rankin; her children, Martell Jordan, Lakeysha Jordan, Ashton Jordan, Paris Jordan, Porscha Jordan, Yasmin Bowie, and Germil Rankin; and 16 grandchildren. She is also survived by her bonus children, Maurice Rankin, Dana Rankin, Rachel Rankin, Shanell Rankin, and Gerante Rankin; her bonus grandchildren, Sharice Rankin, Anthony Reynolds, Jalyn Robinson, and Zion Rankin; and her siblings, Kevin (Heather) Jordan, Robert (Melissa) Ollie, Angie (Patrick) Smith, Marcus (Eyvonne) Jordan, Laurie (Mark) Collier, Tarina Jordan, David Jordan, and Darnell Jordan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lillie Ollie; and her four siblings, Barbara, LC, Francis, and Willie Jr.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

There will be a memorial service in honoring the life of Maggie Jean Rankin on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at MacRae Park, W C Walker Enclosed Shelter, 2235 SW 11th Street, Des Moines, IA 50315, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
