Marcel William Patyk I, 65, died peacefully at the EveryStep Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 12:30 a.m after a 8 year battle with cancer. Marcel had been welcomed to the hospice house on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.

Marcel was born October 26, 1960 and grew up in Hickory Hills, Illinois. He received an Advanced Degree from DeVry University. He married Margie on April 24, 1993 and they had one son, Marcel William Patyk II. The family lived in; Chicago, Illinois, Des Moines, Iowa and Ankeny, Iowa. The family made their home in Ankeny, Iowa and never left.

He will be remembered for his love of; his family, the Cubbies, model trains, Star Trek, technology of all kinds, old tv shows/movies, his love of computers both new and old, and his dog, Steve.

Marcel was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, in-laws, and aunts.

He is survived by his wife, Margie; son, Marcel II; uncle, Rami (Laurie); and several nieces and nephews.

A private military inurnment will be held the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Dr., Adel, Iowa at later date. A celebration of life for family and friends will also be held at a later date.
