Marcella Mae "Marcy" Irons

Marcy Irons, 98, of Altoona, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on August 20, 2025, surrounded by love and laughter, the very things she cherished most. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 6, 1927, Marcy lived a life rooted in faith, family, and fierce devotion.

Marcy was a stay-at-home mother and grandmother; she was the unshakable pillar of her family and a force to be reckoned with. Her heart of gold was matched only by her strong opinions, which she shared with wit, wisdom, and unwavering conviction. Marcy found joy in the simple pleasures: Bible studies with close friends and family, playing bunco and cribbage with competitive flair, and filling her home with laughter, games, and the warmth of togetherness. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the traditions she inspired.

Marcy is survived by her devoted daughter, Sherry (Dennis), and her beloved grandchildren: Tami; Brian (Amanda); Kimmi Sue; David (Lori); Valerie (Doug); Sharon (Chris); Paul (Maria); Autumn (Dan); and Holly. She also leaves behind 29 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great-grandchildren, and her dearest friend since their teenage years, Jean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her son, Danny; her parents, Ralph and Ardis; her siblings, Richard, Doris, Dale, Carl "Billy", and Gary; and her grandson, Chad.

A visitation will be held from 12 pm to 1 pm Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St SW, Altoona, IA. Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, August 26th at 1 pm at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Altoona Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

Memorial contributions may be designated at a later time. Marcy's life was a testament to faith, family, and fierce love. She will be deeply missed and joyfully remembered.
