Marcia Louise Williams

Marcia Louise Williams, 82, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Marcia was born on February 26, 1943, in Massena, Iowa, to Thomas and Nira Talty. In August 1959, she married Dennis Way, and together they raised four children: Jeff, Michael, Denise, and Jon. In 1975, she married George Williams and embraced Melissa and Scott into the family. Marcia and George made their home in West Des Moines, Iowa where they welcomed all.

Marcia devoted her life to caring for others—whether patients, friends, or family. As a professional caregiver, she was kind-hearted and selfless, always putting others first. At home, she took great pride in her decorating and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren.
She enjoyed walking, being with nature and regularly socialized with friends. A devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she drew deep strength from her faith.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Joan) Way, Michael Way, Denise Way, Jon (Miyuki) Way, Melissa Williams, and Scott (Camille) Williams; grandchildren, Josh (Jocelynn) Burnett, Heather (Derick) Rachu, Ryan (Rachel) Way, Stephanie Way, Stephen (Allison) Way, Jada Williams, and Devan Williams; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, George; and grandson, David Way.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
