Mark D. Starcevic

Mark Dwayne Starcevic, 64, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, after a battle with renal cell carcinoma. He died surrounded by family and friends.

Mark was born June 22, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Patricia Starcevic. He worked in the family business, Bob’s Sewerooter Service, his whole life.

He will be remembered as someone who could fix just about anything and who never hesitated to help – often with nothing more than a phone call.

He is survived by his son, Austin Starcevic (Austin’s partner, Melissa Audas); his grandson, Alex; his brother, Steve Starcevic (Deniece Gaudineer); Mark’s partner, Denise Shawhan; and extended family members including an uncle, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia Starcevic.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Cremation will follow the visitation. All are welcome to attend.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Further details to follow.
