Mary Ann Jones
November 04, 1943 — November 17, 2025
Mary Ann Jones, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on November 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on November 4, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Talmadge (Tom) and Eleanor (Ringhofer) Nash. Mary Ann later relocated to Des Moines, Iowa, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School and built a life filled with love and laughter.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Eleanor; stepmother, Lillian Nash; and her devoted husband, Denny Jones. She is survived by her children, Rick (Tami) Walsh, Dee Dee Walsh, Tina (Steve) Postel, and Jennifer Jones; and five cherished grandchildren, Trey and Ty Walsh, Seth, Tatum, and Talia Postel. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into every moment with them.
Known by all as “the sweetest person on the planet,” Mary Ann had a gift for making everyone feel special. Her laughter could light up a room, and her kindness touched countless lives. She loved camping at Cutty's Campground, playing tennis and later pickleball, fishing, and enjoying spirited card games. She had a soft spot for small dogs—especially miniature Yorkies—and adored her precious Tia Rose, who preceded her in death this year.
Mary Ann’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her own family. Through her years as a daycare provider in her home and later at Iowa Methodist Daycare, she helped raise dozens of children, leaving an enduring legacy of love and care. Her life was a beautiful example of joy, generosity, and grace. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1200 S. Warrior Lane, in Waukee, Iowa with visitation one hour prior. Burial at Waukee Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or a nonprofit organization of your choice.
