Mary Jane Miklus

Mary Jane (Friday) Miklus, age 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, while under hospice care.

Mary was born February 13, 1928, in Lorimar, Iowa to Lyle and Arpha J. (Stroup) Friday. She lived in the Des Moines area for most of her adult life. Mary was the secretary at Saydel High School prior to her retirement. She loved shopping and always looked very put together. Many wonderful memories were made on trips to Branson, where the Christmas shows were a particular favorite of hers. Mary and her husband, Jack loved spending time at the cabin in Clear Lake. She also enjoyed playing bridge with the girls. Mary was a member of Marquisville United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and VFW Auxiliary 9662.

She is survived by her sister, Karen (John) Manning; daughter-in-law, Karen Jepsen-Miklus; brother-in-law, Bill Miklus; sister-in-law, Vicki Miklus; sister-in-law, Daisy Marcketti; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Miklus; son, Ronald Miklus; sister, Joan Loy; brother, David (Christie) Friday; sister-in-law, Bettie (Kenneth) Purdy; brother-in-law, Joe Miklus; sister-in-law, Velma Miklus; brother-in-law, Jon Miklus; brother-in-law, Mario Marcketti; and sister-in-law, Amelia “Mickey” Miklus.
