Mary L’Estrange Miller, 78, passed away at her home on June 12, 2025.

Mary was born on September 15, 1946 in Des Moines to James and Lucy (Lynch) L’Estrange. She started working for Principal Financial Group right out of high school and continued working there until she retired in 2008. Mary was a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and was very active with the Altar & Rosary Society as well as the CRHP group. Mary prayed the rosary every day. Her grandchildren were one of the greatest joys in her life. She adored her family and was proud of every one of them. Mary enjoyed her monthly “Bunko Night” with the ladies. She also loved to travel and was always up for a good Hallmark movie. To know Mary was to love her.

Mary is survived by her children, Sara Sampson, Jimmy Miller and Tom “TJ” Miller; grandchildren, Gunnar Sampson, Makenna Overend, Alex Sampson, Jackson Miller, Cole Sampson, Michael Sampson, Kody Garr, Jaxon Garr, Henry Garr and Maesa Everett; great-grandchildren, Lennox and Rori; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Miller; great-granddaughters, Loretta and Lenora; and her brothers, Jimmy, Tommy and Johnnie L’Estrange.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the Rosary prayed at 6:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 18th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road. Mary will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
