Max D. Isaacson, 94, passed peacefully in his sleep on June 23, 2026 at Glen Meadows Retirement Community in West Des Moines. He was born on May 26, 1932, the son of David R. and Delia (Groves) Isaacson in Madrid, Iowa, the youngest of six children.

Max attended North High School, where he met his bride-to-be, then continued his education with a BA and Master's degree from Drake University. He served as a Captain in the United State Air Force and had extensive careers at Look Magazine and Macmillan Oil Company. He owned and was active in two small businesses; Mussetter Graphics and America's Best Apparel in West Des Moines. Max was the proud author of several books and loved writing “Letters to The Editor” that were printed in the Des Moines Register. He was a life-long member of Windsor United Methodist Church.

Max was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Liz (Fenton) Isaacson, his parents, and all his beloved brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish his memory include his three sons, Scott, Steven (Carol), and Stuart (Tracy); daughter, Susan (Mike) Harmon; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many other loving relatives and special friends.

Interment will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter where the family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
