Michael “Poppa” Ray Pinta

On Friday, August 14, 2026, we lost one heck of a man. Michael “Poppa” Ray Pinta, 68, passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Toni for 40 plus years, a loving father to Kari, Brandon, Angela and Shanda, and a grandpa (AKA “Poppa”) to 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Mike was born October 20, 1957, in Mason City, Iowa to Raymond and Catherine Pinta. He met Toni at George the Chili King in Des Moines. Mike’s calm presence made even the hardest days easier. He was a proud Army Veteran and a retired truck driver. He enjoyed spending time outdoors on the patio, family gatherings, and alone time with Toni. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan.

He is survived by his wife Toni Pinta, children Kari Pinta, Brandon (Lindsey) Pinta, Angela (William) McDowell, and Shanda Flippo, his 14 beloved grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Snickers the cat and Ernie the dog.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Raymond Pinta, mother Catherine Pichelman, stepfather Duane Pichelman, and his dogs Jake and Ziggy.

Cremation will occur and there will be celebration of life at a later time.
