Michele Gibson
March 17, 1958 — April 22, 2026
Michele Glee Gibson, age 68, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Michele was born March 17, 1958, to Howard and Veva (Cooper) Alleman. Michele Gibson devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, sister, and friend will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Michele grew up on a farm outside of Alleman, Iowa, where she learned the values of hard work, compassion, and care for others that she carried with her throughout her life.
The phrase “opposites attract” perfectly describes Michele and her husband, Emmett, with whom she shared more than 47 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on love and family, raising their three boys in Polk City, Iowa. If you knew Michele, you knew her boys were her whole world. Her devotion to them even led her to work in the cafeteria at North Polk Schools just so she could keep a watchful eye on them while they grew up.
In her later years, Michele stepped away from the school system to become a full-time caretaker for one of her sons, a role she took on with unwavering love and selflessness.
Beyond her family, Michele had a heart that was always pulled toward animals. Whenever a commercial appeared asking for help for stray animals, she would say she wished she could help them all. Over the years, she owned several schnauzers and loved each one as deeply as the last, treating them as true members of her family.
She is survived by her husband, Emmett; sons, Chad, Josh (Alexis), and Brooks (Tabatha); grandkids, Jeffery, Donald, Harrison, Wyatt, and Nate; sister, Sheila Alleman; and nephew, Jeff Curphey.
Michele was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation will occur and there will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Sheldahl Cemetery, 5275 NW 158th Avenue, Polk City, Iowa 50226.

I will always remember her as a little girl who looked like a doll. Her parents used to bring her in to my parents restaurant. Was the sweetest person. I am so sad for your family they will miss you

Michele will be missed. Even though we didn’t see each other often, we picked up again as if we were back in high school. I went through my pictures that I have of her. So many good memories of summer camp and winter retreats at Clear Lake. We were always laughing at something Michele would say or do. God bless your family as they deal with the hole you have left in the family.
