Nancie Lee Gloshen

Nancie Gloshen, 82, of Clive, Iowa, passed away on August 9, 2026. She was born September 2, 1943, to A. Nancy (McDuff) and John Oden and raised in Des Moines where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. Nancie then attended Drake University, where she made lifelong connections as a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Later in life, she continued her commitment to the community as a member of the Des Moines Junior League.

Nancie began her career as an art teacher at St. Joseph’s Academy, and took a courageous leap in the 1970s to start her own commercial art business, Art Services. Overcoming the unique challenges of the era for women in business, Nancie built a highly respected company known for excellence across the Des Moines metro area. She became a trusted consultant and close collaborator with senior executives, who leaned on her vision for corporate advertising and interior design. Because of her talent and personal touch, her business grew entirely through the warm referrals of satisfied clients. Nancie's creative eye left a lasting mark on the community she loved, shaping the comforting and welcoming spaces of local retirement homes, health centers, hospitals, funeral homes, corporate offices, and retail shops. Her deep passion for creating and her business sense leaves a legacy for everyone she touched with her artistry.

In addition to her career, Nancie dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending part of their summers together in Clear Lake.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Garry Gloshen; daughters, Braedi (Michael) Gloshen and Kindra (Tony) Kapsch; granddaughter, Anslee (Collin) Niehaus; grandson, Caden Kapsch; great-grandson, Jace; niece, Crista Belt; nephews, Steve, Mike, Jeff, and Max Oden; and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Nancie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert Oden and Donald Oden.

Services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA at 10:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. For those guests unable to attend in person the service will be live streamed and available below on the day of the service. Following the service, burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
