Nancy Chiodo
June 28, 1948 — October 28, 2025
Nancy Stefani Chiodo, 77, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, after a courageous battle. A lifelong Iowan, Nancy was born and raised on the Southside of Des Moines. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy and later earned her degree from Drake University.
Nancy was the proud mother of one son, Natale (Ned) Chiodo III, and a loving wife to her husband of 49 years, Natale "Ned" Chiodo Jr. She devoted much of her life to her family, especially her three beautiful granddaughters, Sophia, Stella, and Giuliana. The joy she found in spending time with them was unmatched, and she cherished every moment they shared together.
For 38 years, Nancy volunteered at St. Anthony's School, where her dedication was recognized in 2014 with the prestigious Pillar of the Parish Award. She also had a deep love for her husband's garden, where she found peace and joy in the beauty of nature. Nancy worked for 25 years as a lab technician at Mercy Hospital, a role she took on with the same care and attention she gave to every aspect of her life.
In her later years, Nancy enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends, a pastime she continued to enjoy right up until the day she passed.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Natale "Ned" Chiodo Jr.; her son, Natale (Jessica) Chiodo III; her granddaughters, Sophia, Stella, and Giuliana; her brothers, Stephen (Cheryl) Stefani and Joseph (Tiki) Stefani III; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation and Rosary will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road. Nancy will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Anthony’s Foundation in loving memory of Nancy.

Ned, I will always remember your wife. She was a part of my childhood when I lived across the street from Chia and her brothers. We spent many hours across the street listening to Art Nizzi play his instruments. Nancy always had a smile on. What a wonderful woman is was. Enjoy your grandchildren and your son and his wife.
