Nancy Jo Curler
August 20, 1944 — April 23, 2026
Nancy Jo Curler, 81, passed away on April 23, 2026. After a lengthy stay at the hospital, it was Nancy’s wish to be at home surrounded by her loving family when she died. With her strong will and the love of her family, she was able to do just that.
Nancy was born August 20, 1944, in Humeston, Iowa to Raymond and Beulah (Greene) Moon. She became a lifelong Southsider and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962, where she was an active member of the Drama Club. While raising her daughter, Nancy went to work for Central Life and later Farm Bureau where she started in the mailroom and worked her way up to a Senior Underwriter. She met the love of her life, Ralph Curler on a blind date and the couple were married on May 12, 1990.
Nancy had many hobbies. She enjoyed crafting and playing solitaire. She loved listening to music and watching movies. The Sound of Music was amongst her favorites. She was also an avid reader. One of her greatest joys in life was becoming a grandmother and spending time with her four beautiful grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her loving daughter, Rae Ann (Tom) Crawford; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jordan, Kaitlyn and Tommy Crawford; brother, Kenny Moon; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Curler; siblings, Patty Garton, Gary Moon and Jimmie Rickey; and her parents, Ray and Beulah Moon.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy. in West Des Moines.
