Nancy Patterson

Nancy Patterson, 78, passed away at her home on May 10, 2025.

Nancy was born on August 3, 1946 in Jackson, Michigan to Leo and Patricia (McGarvey) Classen. She attended Los Alamos High School in New Mexico where she was a majorette in the marching band. Nancy went on to attend New Mexico State University, where she continued as a majorette. In 1967, she moved to Iowa and was united in marriage to Loren Zimmerman. Three daughters were born to this union. In 1977, Nancy met the love of her life, Ernest “Ernie” Patterson at a Parents Without Partners dance. They married on April 22, 1977. Nancy owned and operated Nancy’s Triple T Dance Studio until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed listening to country music, going to the casinos and visiting Branson, Missouri. In her younger years, she was a league bowler and also belonged to several different card clubs. Nancy loved watching sports, basketball and football were among her favorites. She loved her cat, but above all, Nancy cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Lori (Jamie) Malek, Vicki Albrecht and Juli Zimmerman; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Sharon Classen and Jim (Diann) Classen; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Classen; mother, Patricia Dunbar; step-father, Melvin Dunbar; son-in-law, Eric Albrecht; and her husband of 47 years, Ernie Patterson.

The family will greet friends Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Nancy will be laid to rest at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles, Iowa.
