Service Details

Our mom, Phyllis Jane McKinley Morine, daughter of William and Marie McKinley, was born on October 10, 1934, in Omaha, NE. She went to many schools following the locations of her father’s job. She graduated from Leon High in 1952. On June 7, 1952, she married Robert (Bob) Morine. To this union three children were born, Russell David (wife Pam), Diane Lynn Reid (partner Mark), and Robert A. Morine. She was also blessed with five grandchildren: Laurie Rutledge (husband Shannon), Rustina Knutzon (husband Jason), Michelle Barber (husband Jacob), Joseph Reid (partner Dominica), and Michael Reid (husband Jason), and great-grandchildren: Alexis Rutledge, Carley Rutledge, Landon Knutzon, Elizabeth Knutzon, Kameron Barber, and Jaida Barber.

Phyllis worked for United Federal Savings and Loan, sold real estate, and worked for Norwest Mortgage, retiring from Norwest in 1992. Phyllis and Bob both loved their church, Grace Baptist on County Line Road. They both served on a number of church committees. Bob loved the mowing team and Phyllis the Vacation Bible School and Mission boards. They both loved to camp and boat. They shared a passion for antiquing and loved to hunt bargains at garage sales and sell at flea markets. Before Bob passed away in 2005, they spent many winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

In 2013, Phyllis sold her home since 1956 and moved to Windsor Place, a senior community apartment. She loved her friends and neighbors there and enjoyed having coffee and socializing. She had weekly games of Dominoes, cards, and Farkle.

Phyllis passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines at the age of 91.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Morine; sister, Jean Green; and her son-in-law, George Reid.
