Raymond L. Breeding

Raymond Lee Breeding, age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in the comfort of his own home.

Raymond was born October 7, 1942, the third of six children born to George Alfred and Florence Marcella Breeding. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines. He worked for Lenox, and also drove and owned cabs.

He is survived by his fiancée, Mary Ann Zagnoli; daughter, Julie Breeding (Mike); son, Raymond Lee Breeding II (Ann); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis Breeding (Linda); sister, Sharon Schropp (Steve); as well as nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Breeding; brother, Robert Breeding; and his sisters, Lois Davis and Patricia Houseman.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 612 E 18th Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to St. Peter Catholic Church in memory of Raymond.
