Richard L. Craig

Richard Lee Craig, 91, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Richard was born May 28, 1934, in Anamosa, Iowa to Leslie Earl Craig and Virginia Violet (Gilmore) Craig. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber. In his younger years, he enjoyed deer and duck hunting. Richard attended Granger Emmanuel United Methodist Church. His lifelong passion was gardening and he was proud of his extensive tomato and strawberry patches.

He is survived by his sons, Les Craig (Cindy) and Hal Craig (Petra); grandchildren, Lee, Christine, Ashli, and Anthony; several great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; children, Brian Craig and Lori Ann Hewitt; and his parents, Leslie E. and Virginia V. Craig.

Services will be held at Granger Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 1910 Locust Street, Granger, IA 50109 on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Glendale Cemetery, 4909 University Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50311.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Granger Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
