Richard D. Munyon, Sr.

Richard D. Munyon, Sr. passed away at his home on November 9, 2025, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Ricky was born on September 8, 1953, at Still Hospital to Lorena May Kenoyer and Howard Max Munyon in Des Moines, Iowa.

Popz was a very loving and compassionate father, grandfather, brother, veteran and all-around good guy. His sense of humor was unlimited and sometimes out of bounds, but you couldn’t help but laugh. He was a jack-of-all-trades and worked hard his whole life. He was a proud veteran and was honored to have served his country. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ricky is survived by his children, Richard Jr. and Bobbie Munyon, Lesley and Kim Hoff, Michael Munyon, and Sheila Barnett; as well as many grandchildren; and his loving sisters and brothers – Marsha, Debbie, Lisa, Susan, Johnny and Howie and their families.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maryann and Donna “Donut”; brothers, Eldon and Dennis; and his grandson, Dylan.

Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, Iowa. A graveside service will follow visitation at 12:30 p.m.at Elm Grove Cemetery, 6505 Indianola Avenue, Des Moines.
