Randy Matheny

Randal Lee Matheny, 66, passed away December 23, 2025.

He was born April 25, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa to his parents, Ernest and Patsy Matheny. Randy graduated from North High School. He was a proud Marine and worked for The United States Postal Service for many years. Randy enjoyed working with computers and was a great caretaker for his parents for many years. Most of all Randy enjoyed being an uncle and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his brothers, Douglas (Julie) Matheny and Michael (Sue) Matheny; nephews, Brian (Alison) Matheny, Marc Matheny, Andrew Matheny, and Anthony Matheny; and a host of other loving family members.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Patsy Matheny.

Celebration of life for Pat and Randy Matheny will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.

Memorial contributions can be made to the family in loving memory of Randy Matheny.

Many memories of Randy throughout high school, Randy was kind and very much respected. Riding in his Olds Cutlass convertible was Randy's pride and joy. Randy had a infectious smile. And will be missed dearly. Love You Brother.

I remember Randy from NHS Class of '77. At times he was quiet and unassuming, most times was quiet in a prank, or laughing quietly from a joke. His friends in school were true.

I'm very sorry for the families loss, he was a very nice man I used to be close with him and over the years drifted, I would see him once in awhile though very sad my condolences we will miss you Randy lots of love ❤️ RIP
