Richard A. Falcon, 84, of Freehold Township (formerly of Mountain Lakes and Livingston), passed away on August 13th, 2026 at Wesley on Grand in Des Moines, Iowa.

Richard earned his electrical engineering degree as a graduate from the Newark College of Engineering followed by an expansive career working for the railroad. Specializing in cartenary and electrification, his love of trains filled his everyday life. He loved the people he worked with and his family never tired of hearing his stories. He focused on large scale electrification projects, was a signal safety expert and railroad expert court witness within Erie Lackawanna, Conrail and New Jersey Transit for 40 years before his retirement. Richard had been on the chair of Arema, responsible for the electrification of the NJT Coast Line and the construction of the Hudson Burgen light rail system.

Richard is survived by his sister, Ruth-Ann and her husband, David; son, Robert Falcon and his former wife, Sandra Sherman; daughter, Tara King and her husband, Rick King; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ashley, Kayla, Athena and Jeremy; and nieces and nephews, Valerie, Stephanie, Doug, Ryan, and Corey.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, former Freehold Township educator, Kathleen Falcon, who passed away in March 2025.

Additional services will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026 at Higgins Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, New Jersey. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday August 29th at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, New Jersey.
