Robert "Bob" Beener
April 21, 1943 — July 14, 2026
Robert "Bob" Lee Beener passed away peacefully at his home in Norwalk, Iowa on July 14, 2026, at the age of 83.
Bob retired from the Des Moines Police Department as a Detective, where he dedicated over 32 years of his life. He was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and Blue Lodge. He was also instrumental in the family business of Hardenbrook Concessions. He was a founding member of the Central lowa Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club.
Bob lived a heartfelt life spending time with family and friends and navigating thousands of miles on his Harleys, collecting treasured memories along the way. Along with his Harleys, Bob was passionate about protecting the people of Des Moines and upholding his positions with pride. He enjoyed vacationing in Jamaica and it is said that Bob never met a beach or scotch he didn't like. Bob enjoyed sports, especially watching his grandson Dakota play. And loved bringing people together serving polish sausage at fairs and festivals across the Midwest.
Bob never spoke poorly of anyone and will be missed by many. He requested for his lasting legacy to be helping in death as he did in life by donating his body to the Des Moines University Donor Program.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob is survived by his wife, Denise Constable Beener; sister, Denise "Cookie" Brown; sons, Brian Beener and Dustin Beener; daughter, Susan Muller; grandchildren, Joe Muller, Maddie Muller, and Dakota Beener, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the Police Association Recreational Center (PARC) at 5374 NE 12 Avenue in Pleasant Hill, Iowa 50327 on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m with a brief service beginning at 4:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Des Moines Police Burial Association or the family in loving memory of Bob.
