October 06, 1955 — January 23, 2026
Robert “Bob” Egeland, age 70, of Urbandale, IA passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026 after a courageous battle with glioblastoma, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and friendship.

Throughout his distinguished career, Bob served on numerous state and national pharmacy boards, was elected to the Hy-Vee Board of Directors in 2010, and served on the Iowa Board of Pharmacy beginning in 2022. In recognition of his deep commitment to others, Bob was inducted into the Hy-Vee Hall of Fame, receiving the Community Service Award.
Bob found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments—golfing, cheering on Nebraska and Kansas City Chiefs football, supporting Drake and Iowa State basketball and football, summers spent at the Lake of the Ozarks, traveling, serving as co-chair of the St. Francis of Assisi School Chess Club, and member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Above all, Bob was a friend to everyone. He was deeply loved by his neighbors, colleagues, family, and friends. His smile lit up every room, and his life was full of love and fun.

So sorry to hear of this. Sincere condolences to the family. Bob and I first met when he was a pharmacist filling prescriptions in Omaha at the Hy-Vee at 50th & Center. We had a great business relationship on the way through to his VP of Pharmacy and beyond with Hy-Vee and continued until his retirement. He was such a pleasure to work with. He was always a fair and honest man.

So sorry to hear about Bob's passing. He was such a cute little boy, I really knew him as a kid, when I spent time with his sister, Gloria. He really was a nice looking man, and I am praying for his family at this difficult time. God Bless you. Carolyn and Jerome Hoxton

Bob and I spent a lot time together raising kids , playing basketball, golf and attending Drake Bulldog games. We always had a good time joking about the Albia Blue Demons vs The Chariton Chargers. Bob gave me a tremendous gift years ago (his friendship)
God Bless you Bob

I met Bob when I needed employment. He was VP of Pharmacy at Hy-Vee and we became friend from the start. I enjoyed sitting in his office discussing our trade or shooting the breeze. He was always a very honest and kind person. May his memory be for a blessing.
