Robert "Bob" Heles
April 21, 1952 — November 15, 2025
Robert Michael Heles, 73, passed away November 15, 2025 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Bob was born on April 21, 1952, to Robert and Ardith (Brechler) in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1970. Bob spent much of his career in sales, but he found his greatest professional joy working as an Ambassador with Operation Downtown, where his friendly nature and dedication shined.
Bob was an active and devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous and took great pride in celebrating 25 years of sobriety—a milestone that reflected his strength, perseverance, and commitment to helping others.
A loving family man, Bob treasured attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, playing with his dogs, and simply spending time with those he loved. His kindness, warmth, sense of humor and unwavering support for his family and community will be remembered always.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbi Segura; children, Bob (Emilie) Heles and Dana (Dave Newman) Heles; grandchildren, Seth, Madison, Payton, Parker, Macy, Mateo, Sophia, Olivia and America; great-grandchildren, Eloise and Dana; sisters, Diane Bank and Lori (Ron Earp) Heles; nieces and nephews, Max (Sara Erickson) Bank, Chloe (Aaron Oliver) Bank, and Caden Baum; great-nephew, Teddy, and one on the way; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathy Heles; brothers-in-law, Ted Bank and Dan Baum; and great-grandson, Bexton.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2025 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and Student Center, 1150 28th Street in Des Moines, Iowa. What a pleasure it’s been to share grand parenting with such a grand man. He always had a kind word, a reassuring smile and a special wink for his grandchildren. He lives on in them as kind, resilient, and goodness filled young people.

Brother Bob, your presence in my life has helped shaped me into the Man I am, your kindness, straightforward approach, honesty, and laughter are things I will never forget.
Bobbi and Family, my hope is you never forget the awesomeness of Bob, that you can't let up to get the good things in life, certain things you can't take it easy on, but in life you have to take it easy to find a balance. Bob got real good at this.
Hurts my head to think he is gone, but fills my heart knowing I got the chance to share this life with you, a guy pretty much just like me.
Peace & Love!!
