Robert "Bob" Allen Hoffman Jr.
September 11, 1951 — November 10, 2023
Robert “Bob” Allen Hoffman, Jr, 72, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center with his loving family and friends by his side. Bob, the son of Robert and Erma (Hulbert) Hoffman was born September 11, 1951. He was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa.
Bob married the girl next door and the love of his life, Judy. Bob and Judy had a rare and beautiful love story. They were married for 52 wonderful years. He loved to spoil his children and grandchildren utilizing his talent for fabricating. Cars, go-karts, merry- go-round, climbing ropes, scooters and tire swings were all part of his creations. Bob was a devoted and loving husband, supportive and adoring dad and papa. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family.
Cars were his passion. Bob had a large car collection. His favorite was his 1971 Corvette convertible. He enjoyed going to car shows especially the GoodGuys. He always said he loved looking at all the cars but the best part was having his family and friends with him.
Bob was a proud member of Teamsters Local 147 for 51 years. He was a semi truck driver for Crouse Cartage Company and retired after 28 years. Retirement gave him the opportunity to spend more time working in his garage. He was proud of the house and large garage he built with the help of family and friends. He was a very talented fabricator and builder of hot rods. He had a traffic light on his garage letting everyone know his status, red-gone, yellow-gone for a short time and green come on in. Visitors to his garage were welcomed with pop, candy and popsicles. Anytime he was asked about the progress on a project his answer was always, “It will be done next Tuesday.”
Bob was a member of Christ the King Church and served as an Usher for many years.
He enjoyed being an active member of Concrete Cruisers Car Club and was the Club Marshall for several years. Bob’s interests also included gambling, traveling, camping and KC Chiefs.
Bob was a great man. He wouldn’t say no to anyone that needed his help. He never met a person that he didn’t like. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease and play practical jokes. From the time he got married there was always multiple pets in the house. His cat, Champ will miss his “daddy”.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Judy, daughter Gena (Andy) Wadle, son Rob,
granddaughter, Maile Adamovicz, grandson, Robbie Hoffman, siblings, Garland (Joyce) Hoffman, Berta (Denny) Fergus, Ben (Sherry) Hoffman and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Victoria Cerka, brother, Tim, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 20, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 21st at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street.
Bob will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.
