Robert Lee Moore, Sr.
February 07, 1955 — February 02, 2026
Robert Lee Moore, Sr., age 70, passed away on February 2, 2026. He was born on February 7, 1955, and lived in Des Moines, Iowa, for most of his life.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a commitment he carried with great pride throughout his life. Following his military service, he worked for MidAmerican Energy for more than 25 years, where he built a respected career before retiring.
An extremely passionate fisherman, Robert could almost always be found near the water when he wasn’t working or spending time with his family. Fishing was more than a hobby—it was a way of life that brought him peace and joy. He was also a Black Belt in Chinese Wushu, another lifelong passion. Robert loved sharing his knowledge and took great pride in teaching both fishing and martial arts to others. Above all else, Robert deeply loved his family and was an especially proud grandfather.
Robert was a man of strong faith and had a deep, unwavering belief in God that guided him throughout his life.
He is survived by his child, BJ (Iris) Moore; his grandchildren, Miles, Malcolm, and Hazel; and his sibling, Sidney Moore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Virginia Thomas; and his siblings, David Moore, Bruce Moore, and Lonnie Moore.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Robert.
