Robert Joseph McLaughlin

Robert Joseph McLaughlin, 86, passed away at Wesley on Grand on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Robert was born November 6, 1938 to James and Lucy (Balster) McLaughlin in Des Moines, Iowa. A lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, Bob graduated from Dowling High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. In his free time, Bob enjoyed golfing and was especially proud of achieving three holes-in-one over the years.

He is survived by his nephews, Steve (Carol) McLaughlin and Tom McLaughlin; nieces, Angela McLaughlin and Andrea McLaughlin; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, and great-great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucy; his brothers, James and Donald McLaughlin; and his nephew, John McLaughlin.

Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation taking place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery.
