Roger Daniel Cox

Roger Daniel Cox, 85, of Des Moines, passed away October 29, 2025, at home.

He was born May 15, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa to Emma and Frank Cox.

Roger was an outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. Roger also had a green thumb and gardened every summer. He was a caretaker of lost and injured animals. Later in life, Roger lived for his weekly Sunday trip to Prairie Meadows.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Marla Cox; daughter, Mel (Chris) Cox; cats, Big Boy, Cowboy, and Little Gray.

Family will be greeting friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at the funeral home. Roger will be laid to rest at Avon Cemetery.
