Rose M. Mettler
August 07, 1954 — February 27, 2026
Rose Mettler, 71, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. She was born on August 7, 1954, and lived a life filled with laughter, imagination, and deep love for her family.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mettler; her father, Howard Zuck; her mother, Patricia Zuck; her brother, Leslie; and her sister, Tammy. She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Hill (Chad); her grandsons, Aaron Copic and Owen Hill; her brother, Terry (Connie); her aunt, Pj Doyle; and many extended family members who meant so much to her.
Rose retired from Meredith Corporation on May the 4th, 2018 after 36 years of service.
Rose was naturally funny. She had a quick wit and a way of saying things that made people laugh when they least expected it. She loved playing games, especially when it meant sitting around a table together and enjoying each other’s company.
She enjoyed stories in all forms. Disney, Star Wars, and The Lord of the Rings were favorites, and she loved a good adventure. She was also an avid reader, especially when it came to mystery novels. She loved the suspense and the challenge of trying to piece everything together before the ending. She had a soft spot for cats and adored Tigger and Stitch.
Rose had a special place in her heart for children. She genuinely loved being around them, and they were drawn to her warmth and humor. Being a grandma was one of the greatest joys of her life, and she cherished the time she spent with Aaron and Owen.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rose will be laid to rest at Avon Cemetery.

Oh Bobbie, I just found out today of your mom's passing. I worked with her at Meredith 10th St. I'm so very saddened. My husband is at Avon. I will see if I can find her and pay my respects.

I am so sorry for your loss, Bobbi. I was part of the Meredith card group and so saw your mother most days at lunch. We had so much fun and she was such a loving person. I know she loved you fiercely. I retired in 2013 and unfortunately lost touch with her. I tried to meet her for lunch a few times, but she always begged off. I treasure the time that I spent with her. She will be missed.

Bobbie, I'm SO sorry to hear about your Mom. My Mom (Terry/Meredith Corp) talked about her fondly. They shared some good times together. I'm thinking of you and your family.

Bobbie, your mother was filled with joy and laughter, I haven’t been in touch for some time now, the years just get away from us. Just wanted you to know that we knew of her passing, you guys moved away and we lost touch. The time goes by so fast, I am not doing so well myself, my Dad, Maynard he’s 92, still ticking away. Well kiddo you take care of yourself . DONNIE METTLER
