Russell Cosper

Russell Cosper, 67, passed away February 22, 2026, at MercyOne Medical Center.

Russell was born on March 4, 1958, in Des Moines. He was the oldest of six children born to Ronald and Grace (Parmenter) Cosper. Russell worked as a bricklayer and was a member of Bricklayers Union Local #3 of Iowa. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating and camping as well. Russell also enjoyed watching westerns and NASCAR races.

Russell is survived by his children, Chad (Erika) Cosper, Tyler (Mandy) Cosper and Kelly Cosper; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mark.

A Celebration of Russell’s Life will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Pioneer Columbus Community Recreation Center, Cafeteria, 2100 SE 5th Street in Des Moines.
