Sandra Jean Amsden

Sandra Jean Amsden, 74, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Sandy was born January 27, 1951, in Des Moines, Iowa to Rex and Evelyn Van Buskirk. She married Daniel Amsden and they were devoted to each other until his passing in 2015. Sandy was a kind, soft, and loving person. She had endless reserves of unconditional love for her family and her husband. There is not a single bad thing anyone could say about Sandy.

She loved to travel and had visited every Freedom Rock. She was an Iowa girl but did not like the snow. Sandy had a gentle demeanor and never cursed, even when she was in pain. In her free time, she enjoyed doing Diamond Art. She will be remembered for her unwavering support of family and her loving disposition.

She is survived by her sons DJ (Abby) Amsden and Jake (Kristy) Amsden, five grandchildren Paige, Trey, Kenadee, Cason and Brynlee, five great-grandchildren, and sister Nancy Bertrand.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Daniel, her parents, and her son Shane Amsden.

Cremation will occur and Sandy will be interred with her husband at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
