Samuel K. Cole
July 16, 1959 — May 13, 2025
Samuel Keith Cole, age 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Sam was born July 16, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa to Keith and Beatrice Cole. He was immediately joined by a surprise twin sister four minutes later. Sam was a man of deep compassion, a mischievous spirit, and gentle demeanor. He was a devoted person who loved the Lord and his family dearly. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as long drives and playing trucks and cars with his grandchildren when they were little. He was a talented handyman who loved tinkering around in his woodshop. Sam was a man who had many gifts, and was affectionately known as the “Laundry Stud” for many years, as his perfectionist personality would shine through as he ironed jeans and excelled at all things laundry.
Sam was compassionate and good natured. He had a soft spot in his heart for children and he was happiest when holding babies, always with a mischievous smile from ear to ear. He will always be remembered and missed by his family and loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Cole; children, Bryan Cole, Dale (Jodie) Brockman, and Andrea (Stetson) Williams; grandchildren, Kane Brockman, Madison Cole, Cici Williams, Skyler Cole, Cooper Brockman, Kylee Cole, Dexter Williams, and Gracee Weatherman; siblings, Nancy (Roger) Kephart, Luella Cole, Cecilia (Marc) Wippert, twin sister Shelly (Leroy) Miller, and Julie Cole; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Keith Cole.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
