Sayavong (Mo) Mila, 60, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Sayavong was born December 28, 1964, in Vientiane, Laos to Say Mila and Soutchay Khothisane.
He is survived by his wife, Bounheua Mila; sons, Michael and Matthew Mila; siblings, Phitsamai (Mouane) Simougkhot, Saya (Lasamy) Mila, Sayakham (Vong) Mila, and Megan (Chai) Phommahaxay; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Sayavong was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law, Ouane Baccam.
Visitation will occur at the Mila family residence. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. Urn burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Glendale Cemetery, Tai Dam section.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Sayavong.

I met Mo through my parents, Evelyn and Woody Wedel, who owned Iowa Jewelers Supply. They thought so much of him and introduced him to all of us at Iowa Jewelers. I am so sorry for your loss.

Mo, you were always so full of life and joy. It was always a pleasure to see you..at tennis matches, the store. Proud to have been your friend for 30+ years. Our sons will carry on the tradition my friend. God speed. My condolences to your wife and family. Your memory will be their greatest treasure!
