Sharon A. Nevitt

Sharon Ann Nevitt, age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Parkridge Care Facility in Pleasant Hill.

Sharon was born August 15, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa to James and LaJune Schwerzler. She grew up in West Des Moines and attended Valley High School. A devoted mother and grandmother, Sharon treasured every moment spent at her sons’ and grandchildren’s activities, always their biggest supporter. She found peace in the outdoors, often tending to her yard or playing with her beloved cats. Sharon also had a deep love for music and dancing, which brought her great joy throughout her life. Her light-hearted spirit, caring heart, and infectious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Scott Nevitt (Mitzi) and their sons, Jakob, Luke and Frank; son, Jeff Nevitt (Jessie) and their children, Madison and Maxwell; siblings, Bob Schwerzler (Jo) and Pam Weller; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She is also survived by her beloved cats.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, James and LaJune Schwerzler and her sister, Barbara Newton.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines after the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
