Sandra Venerable

Sandra Faith Venerable, 82, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026.

She was born December 1, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa.

She was raised in the family home on Raccoon Street. The family home was full of cooking, baking, love and devotion to the Lord. She carried these values into the future while making a home for her three children. Upon the arrival of grandchildren and great grandchildren she remained steadfast, echoing the same values. Her family will be forever grateful and cherish every moment, every lesson and every prayer shared.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Venerable; parents, Clarence and Alice Rounds; brothers, Gerald Rounds, Vernon Rounds, Philard Rounds, and Donald Rounds; and sister, Lelia Vander Veldin.

She is survived by her son, Ryan (Jessica) Hass; daughters, Jamie Archer and Shelley Landals; brother, Clarence (Janet) Rounds; many nieces and nephews; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial visitation will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona, Iowa. A private graveside service will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Sandra Venerable.

The family would like to thank Edgewater, Harmony and Suncrest Hospice for the care and compassion that they gave Sandra.
