Sarah Georgina Smart
of Pleasant Hill, Iowa

Sarah Georgina Smart, 72, passed away on July 21, 2026. She was born on October 5, 1953 to John and Olive (Lamb) McFadden in Camden, Maine.

Sarah enjoyed being there for her family, going to Motorcycle races, softball and baseball games. She enjoyed a good word search. Spending time soaking up all the sun. She liked her lunches with her children, family and friends. Wherever had a good French Dip Sandwich. She loved her TV Shows and never missed a Young and The Restless.

Sarah spent time traveling the state fair route with the Arcade. She liked to tell stories about going to different fairs both here in the states and in Canada. She liked to drive the Semi and her call sign was “ Mothergoose”. She was a proud Carney. However, once the fair routes ended she would not go to the State fair.

Sarah graduated from Mercy College of Health Sciences in 1993 and was an RN in the Des Moines area at Unity Point Family Practice Clinic, Mercy Hospital and the Veterans Hospital throughout her career. She Retired in 2019. The people she worked with say she was a force to be reckoned with and someone who was an advocate for herself, coworkers and the patients she cared for. She carried much of that in her life pushing those of us around her to believe in ourselves and to not settle but to strive for what we wanted.

She will be remembered for her Irish goodbyes, sassy attitude and loving heart.

Those left to cherish Sarah’s memory include her children, Paul Smart (Danielle), Jessica Boeke (Chris), Kellie Smart (Tommy), Jason Smart and Andrea Smart; grandchildren, Gage Smart, Ethan Smart, Dylan Smart, Natalie Boeke, Madalyn Waage, Makayla Waage, Makenzi Boeke, Hailie Liendo, Alayna Liendo, Corey “CJ” Wylie, Jordan Sorter, and Riley Sorter; great grandchildren, Knox Smart, Lucas Smart, Nevaeh Smart and one great granddaughter on the way; and siblings, Pricilla Boganno, Lorraine Risley, Mary Pohren, Harold McFadden, Dan McFadden,Kerry Gibson, and Michaela York.
