Scott Alan Mentzer

Scott Alan Mentzer was born on October 2, 1969, in Des Moines, Iowa and passed away on July 9, 2026, in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Scott worked in the flooring business throughout his life. He was a free spirit with a heart of gold who loved spending time outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing. Above all else, Scott treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. They were everything to him.

Scott is survived by his children, Sydney Cox (Justin), Emily Ketchum (Noah) and Mason Mentzer; grandchildren, Jaxson, Owen Otto, Charli and Lori Cox; Joanna-Belle, Canaan and Sawyer Ketchum; mother, Kathy Kolka; brother, Ryan Mentzer; niece, Paige Mentzer; nephew, Grayson Mentzer; aunt, Jan Shields and significant other, Sharon Hymer.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roland and Helen Kolling and uncle, Tim Shields.

Services for Scott will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, when family will greet guests from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at 1:00p.m., at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa
