Scott Brian Nelson

Scott Brian Nelson, 61, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Scott was born December 12, 1964, in Des Moines, Iowa to Dennis and Judy Nelson. He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School where he played football. Scott worked primarily as a truck driver. He loved his family and was very loyal and protective of those he loved. Scott was hardheaded and strong-willed. He made the most of every situation he found himself in. He had a great sense of humor which got him through some tough times. He loved to laugh, was always joking, and will be remembered lovingly as a smartass. Scott was proud of his Native American heritage and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an animal lover and liked watching westerns and karate movies.

He will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends. There will be a celebration of life at a later date at Sober Soldierz Recovery Home with Pastor Josh Bingaman officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to The Sober Soldierz Recovery Family.
