Shannon Marie Sparling
February 05, 1985 — April 04, 2025
Shannon Marie Sparling, 40, was born on February 5, 1985, to Phyllis Marie Fliss in Red Lake Ontario, Canada. Shannon later welcomed her step-dad, Ray Nelson into her life.
Shannon was the light of her mother’s life, she called Shannon her miracle baby. Shannon and her mother always remained best friends throughout her life. She spent her childhood, arm-in-arm, with her brother, Jeremiah, and a large group of cousins. You could always find Shannon with her Barbies and playing dress up. Shannon graduated from Bondurant High school in 2003. A year prior to graduating high school, she met the love of her life, Luke Sparling.
Shannon and Luke married in 2009 at a beautiful ceremony at her mother’s home. After sharing several years of wedded bliss and excitement, which included parties, traveling, and meeting many friends along the way. Shannon and Luke welcomed their first baby girl, Mirielle Marie Grace, in July of 2019. It was only a short time later that the two were blessed with their second baby girl, Kinzlee Rose in August of 2020.
Shannon spent time working in banking and finance for about 15 years. She met her true calling as a mom and was able to stay home with her growing and beautiful daughters. Shannon loved to bake, decorate, and plan parties for anyone looking for the greatest party imaginable. She had an eye and flair for just exactly what was needed to make any gathering better. Shannon prided herself on taking care of others, whether it was taking care of her loving husband, beautiful daughters, or anyone that needed a helping hand. She had a deep love for her community and always volunteered to help with many community events and school activities. It was often stated that Shannon couldn’t go anywhere without making a new friend. She had a personality and gift of gab to endear everyone she met.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband, Luke, and their beautiful daughters, Mirielle Marie Grace and Kinzlee Rose; her mother, Phyllis Fliss; her devoted brother, Jeremiah (Evie) Fliss; her step-dad, Ray Nelson; her loving in-laws, Steve and Zelma Sparling; her siblings, Thomas Sparling, Candice (David) Brown, Matthew (Jessica) Sparling; her nieces and nephews, Frederick Sparling, Harlan Sparling, Kashton Brown, Ezra Sparling, and Kailoh Brown; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Shannon is preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack and Lucille; her uncle, Jack; her aunt, Grace; and the many dogs her family had and loved over the years.

I am in shock and can hardly speak or know what to say. My heart hurts for you all and I wish I could be there to give you all hugs. My thoughts and prayers are with you all; now, and days and nights to come. I pray God wraps His love all around you all and give you peace and comfort through this time. I will miss bumping into Shannon in the craziest of places around town. It’s like God always had little moments for us to share throughout time that had some deeper meaning for us both. She was a dear friend to my son and always willing to help others and bring joy and a smile with her. Even in down times, she was always looking for the ray of sunshine. And that’s what I saw her as: a ray of sunshine…. 💔💜precious woman …
