Sherry Lee Andersen, 77, passed away June 16, 2026 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Sherry was born in Spencer, Iowa on July 23, 1948 to Delores (Mosier) and Merwin Andersen, Sr. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa and then from the Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education.

Following graduation, Sherry taught at Christian schools in the Bahamas, Miami FL and Atlanta GA before returning to Sioux City and teaching at Morningside Christian School (currently Siouxland Christian School) until 1985. At that time, she began working at Greenburg’s Jewelers in Sioux City, later accepting a management position with them in Des Moines IA, where she met Dee Campbell. They became best friends and eventually both transitioned to Nationwide Insurance until they retired in 2010.

In 2013, Sherry returned to Sioux City and lived with her Uncle Bruce (Mosier) after the passing of his mom (her grandmother), Louise Mosier. She enjoyed countless Friday nights with her Uncle Bruce and her Uncle Mark and Aunt Mary playing Trivial Pursuit and eating pizza! When the family decided to sell the family home in 2019, Sherry again returned to Des Moines and moved in with her friend, Dee, because she was looking for a roommate. Sherry and Dee became “half of the Golden Girls” and enjoyed garage sales, their puppy Gabby and traveling. Sherry enjoyed going to the casino, playing games on her iPad, reading her Bible and spending time at the family dairy farm in Minnesota and with family in Sioux City.

She is survived by her siblings Lorrie (Lenny) Robinson of Sioux City, Debbie Ewoldt of Sioux City, Merwin (DeAnna) Andersen Jr of Glenwood MN and Jody Andersen of Glenwood MN; her Uncle Martin Mosier of Tustin CA, Uncle Bruce Mosier of Sioux City and Aunt Mary (Mark) Wilkens of Sioux City; nieces and nephews and her best friend Dee Campbell of Des Moines and her family.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Randy Swensen; and brother-in-law, Mike Ewolt.
