Shirley Ann Armstrong, 78, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Shirley was born March 26, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from North High School. Shirley enjoyed collecting teddy bears and camping. She was known for decorating her home for every holiday. Shirley worked as a CNA for her entire career, and spent the longest time at Riverview Manor.

She is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Edward Armstrong; step-daughter, Helen Lampman; brother, Ernie Draper; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Betty Draper; children, Michael Boley, Kimberly Armstrong, and Larry Armstrong; sister, Dorothy Miller; and brother, James Draper.

A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Eagles Lodge, 6567 Bloomfield Road, Des Moines, IA.
