Service Details

Somluck (Luck) Perreten, 81, of Urbandale, IA, passed away peacefully in her home on March 20, 2025. Luck was always the caregiver for everyone in her life and her daughters honored that tradition by caring for her until the Lord called her home.

Luck was born near Bangkok, Thailand to Pol and Pongpun Kanchanapis. At 25, Luck met and fell in love with Thomas Perreten, who was stationed in Bangkok with the U.S. Air Force. Soon after their first child, Sandra, was born, Tom and Luck moved to the United States leaving behind her home country, a selfless move that was emblematic of her love for her family. Luck bravely took on the challenges of raising a family in a new culture and was very proud when she became a naturalized citizen on July 20, 1976. Her family has always been proud of her heritage and birthplace.

Luck raised her family in Fairbault, MN and retired on Hunt Lake. An avid fisher, she spent many hours sitting on the shoreline, feet in the water, watching her bobber. Luck truly had a green thumb and the gardens will never look as lush as they once did. Nor will the kitchen ever be as well stocked as it was for her grandchildren.

Luck was loved by all that knew her, especially her family. And she loved them back even harder, helping out in any way possible from cooking a favorite meal to making sure you never lifted a finger in her house. Her greatest joy in life was her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandra (Paul) Lundstrom of Nisswa, MN; Tammy (Brad) Churchill of Johnston, IA; and her grandchildren, Hannah, Luke, Madie (Tyler), Will, Jack, and Ellie.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom; and her grandson, Trevor Churchill.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Midwest or the American Heart Association and online condolences expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
