Stephen Wayne Ripley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Ripley, 78, on July 19, 2025.
Stephen Wayne Ripley was born on September 10, 1946, in Pipestone, Minnesota, to Gerald and Ruth (Bush) Ripley. The eldest of four siblings, he was raised in Ottumwa, Iowa, where he met the love of his life, Nancy (Decker). They shared 58 wonderful years together. Steve spent his entire career in the financial services industry, retiring from First Hartland Financial Group. He also proudly served in the National Guard.
An avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, Steve enjoyed fishing, traveling, pickleball, golf, Iowa State athletics, and playing cards. He and Nancy traveled extensively throughout their 58 years together. Above all, Steve cherished time with his family and friends. He was known for his quick wit, warm heart, and unwavering support for those he loved.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Nancy; daughter, Stephanie Herbold (Skip); son, Doug Ripley (Kim); beloved grandchildren, Mikala Bakkie, Andy Herbold, Evan Ripley, Gannon Ripley and Callen Ripley; great-grandchildren, Zach Bakkie, Michael Bakkie, Isabelle Herbold, Vivian Herbold and Logan Herbold; brother, Greg Ripley; and sisters, Judy (George) Callison and Lynnette Smith.

We have lost a dear friend with Steve’s passing. I will miss his dramatic pauses, then perfect comebacks. He was one of a kind! Together, Nancy and Steve are “couple goals”… 58 years! We are so sorry Nancy, Stephanie, Doug and families for your loss.
