Steven Karl Dewein

Steven Karl Dewein, 70, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Steve was born June 26, 1956, in Bonaparte, Iowa to Frank and Wilma Dewein.
He worked on a farm as a young man while growing up in Bonaparte. He loved traveling and was lucky enough to be able to do it both for his work and for pleasure. He was a Disney fan and loved taking the whole family on Disney cruises and to Disney World.
Steve enjoyed woodworking and loved assembling Legos. He was a member of the Lego club – Iowa LUG. He was very musical and enjoyed singing and playing the trumpet. He was a talented photographer and had his photography displayed in prominent places in Des Moines.
Faith was a central factor in Steve’s life. He took comfort in worship and one of his favorite holidays was Christmas. He loved his family above all else and one of his proudest moment was walking his daughter, Imogen down the aisle recently.
He is survived by his wife, Deb Dewein; brother, Richard Dewein; children, Raeven Dewein, Toby Dewein, Imogen (Skyler) Sundquist, Andrew Long, and Angela Long; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other loving family, and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Wilma Dewein.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Adelphi Calvary Baptist Church, 7925 SE Vandalia Drive, Runnells, IA 50237. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery after the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Adelphi Calvary Baptist Church or ACTS Academy in loving memory of Steve.
