Susan E. Bohn

Susan Elaine Bohn, 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026, while under hospice care in the comfort of her own home with her family by her side.

Susan was born January 12, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa to Merle and Alice Paul. She graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1973 and spent her entire life on the east side of Des Moines.

She was the owner/operator of RS Construction Cleaning for more than 20 years.

Her greatest joy were her grandchildren who affectionately called her Neena. Her summers were often spent at Rathbun Lake, where she enjoyed camping and boating with family and friends. An avid crafter, Susan delighted in creating treats for her grandchildren's classes during holidays. She was also a fervent sports enthusiast and loved her Iowa Hawkeyes, the Denver Broncos, the Golden State Warriors, and the Chicago Cubs. Her exceptional baking skills earned her numerous awards at the Iowa State Fair, particularly for her intricately designed gingerbread houses.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Richard Bohn; son, Matthew Mason; daughter, Erin (Adam) Herman; grandchildren, Hank, Mathylda, Waylon, and Deklyn; brother, Russ (Rosanne) Paul; niece, Jerra (Mike) Fust; nephew, Rusty Paul; great nieces, Grace, Ella, Abigail, and Natalie; and many other loving family members and friends.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Alice (Barb) Paul; and grandparents, Laverne and Mildred Faust.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2026, also at Hamilton’s.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family to be used for a memorial bench.
