Terry L. Newbury

Terry Lee Newbury, 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Terry was born September 6, 1965, in Greenfield, Iowa to Larry and Ramona (Stout) Newbury.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures — swimming, hot tubs, and a quiet beach. He loved vacationing with loved ones or relaxing by the water. Terry loved animals and playing with his dog Gunther, cat Bentley, and his granddogs Lexie, Rosie and Skye. He was an Iowa Football fan, enjoyed a good game of golf, and was always up for some ice cream. Above all, his family meant everything to him and he cherished time with them, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Christina; sons, Nick (Megan) and Dylan; stepchildren, Jennifer Taft Gadbaw (Kyle), McKinsey Johnson (Erin), and Jeremiah Johnson (Mary); grandchildren, Kaleb and Avery; father, Larry Newbury; father-in-law, Danny Rude; brother and sister, nieces and nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona Newbury; mother-in-law, Mary Rude; and aunt, Tootie Hauschildt.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Day and time are currently pending. Please check back for more details.
