Thien "Tim" Van Leuang

Thien “Tim” Van Leuang, age 56, passed away on July 18, 2026, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Tim was born on February 17, 1970, in Vientiane, Laos, to Dang Leuang and Veun Hoang. He later made Des Moines his home, where he built a life centered around hard work and family.

For many years, Tim was employed by the United States Postal Service, taking great pride in his craftsmanship and the work he did for others. Most recently, he was self-employed as a contractor and builder, where he continued his strong work ethic and dedication.

Outside of work, Tim enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his family. Whether enjoying the outdoors or gathering with loved ones, he treasured the moments spent with those closest to him.

Tim is survived by his mother, Veun Hoang; his children, Courtney Wolfe, Keaton Leuang, and Kowan Leuang; his brothers, Leun Leuang and Long Leuang; his sisters, Chadavone Leuang, Vieng Lengsouthiphong, Jamie Kearshner, and Liann Mork; his faithful dog, Boss; special friend, Kevin; and many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dang Leuang, and his brother, Vandy Leuang.

Tim will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love for the outdoors, and the time he cherished with his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Tim's life and share memories. Cremation will follow the visitation.
