Tyrone "Ty" Adam Meyers
May 07, 1965 — November 28, 2025
Tyrone “Ty” Adam Meyers, 60, passed away on November 28, 2025, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. He was born on May 7, 1965, and spent his life working hard, loving fiercely, and building connections everywhere he went.
Ty served in the United States Army from 1982 to 1988, a period of service he was incredibly proud of. After returning home, he dedicated more than 30 years to the sanitation industry, including 13 years with Aspen Waste Systems, where he was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and quick wit.
Outside of work, Ty lived a life full of passion and people. He loved figure-8 and sprint car racing, and could often be found cheering on his favorites at the track. Camping was one of his greatest joys—especially at Cutty’s Campground, which he lovingly called his “safe haven.” Concerts were another highlight in his life, and he rarely missed a chance to experience live music, especially when accompanied by his best friend, George.
On June 25, 1988, Ty married the love of his life, Annie, and together they shared more than 40 years of laughter, partnership, and family. Ty embraced not only his own children, but also became a “bonus dad” to many of his kids’ friends over the years. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for.
Ty was the kind of person who “always knew a guy”—he had connections everywhere, and if someone needed help, he made it happen. He would show up for anyone, anytime, without hesitation. His enormous heart and willingness to serve others will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Ty is survived by his loving wife, Annie Meyers; his children, Lyndi (Mike) Heinkel, Adam Halter, and Emilee (Shane) Lehman; his grandchildren, Dylan Heinkel, Taylor Heinkel, Jordan Leach, Jayden Leach, and Evelyn Lehman; his siblings, Tami (Jeff) Ebel, Terry (Peggy) Meyers, Lucas (Maria) Meyers, and Leland (Katelyn) Meyers; his sister-in-law, Lynda Meyers; his stepmother, Mary Meyers; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tim Meyers.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 1:00–5:00 p.m. at Cutty’s Clubhouse, 2500 SE 37th Street, Grimes, Iowa.
