Service Details

Uriel Gonzalez, age 37, passed away suddenly Sunday, May 11, 2025, at home.

Uriel was born to parents, Jose Luis Gonzalez and Esperanza Segura Gonzalez on July 15, 1987, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Uri, as he was affectionately known, loved Anime, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, horror movies, playing video games, and watching the comedian Gabriel (Fluffy) Iglesias. He was an avid Beatles and Chicago fan, and loved listening to his mom’s CDs. Uriel was a joyful soul; you could hear his laughter once you entered the house. He was also sarcastic, and always had something smart to say when his siblings were around. When he was younger, he loved walking to the Forest Avenue Library to pick up the latest comic books available. He would then walk to Burger King to grab lunch. He graduated from North High School in 2005, and he worked with Easter Seals under the AIM program.

Uriel is survived by his parents, Jose Luis Gonzalez and Esperanza Segura Gonzalez; his siblings, Nancy (Michael) Gonzalez-Housman, Eloisa (Lance) Gonzalez-Dixon, and Saul Gonzalez; his nieces, Kiera (Brandon) Rivera, Tiana Turner, Kaiya (Anthony) Garcia, Jada Turner, Kaylee Beerbower, Josephine Housman, Eva Gonzalez, and Valerie Housman; and his nephews, Tiano Turner, Saul Gonzalez, Jr., Giani Gonzalez, Armanni Gonzalez, and Giovani Gonzalez. There are also multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins spread across the United States and Mexico that will miss him.

In the last years of his life, Uriel was diagnosed with and succumbed from an incurable autoimmune disease. He was a trooper throughout the whole three years he battled this disease. He will be remembered and missed for his innocent soul.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 4:00 p.m.
