Valorie Mae Brown

Valorie Mae Brown, age 77, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Valorie was born on February 15, 1949, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Lloyd and Mae Feley. She earned a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and carried a lifelong appreciation for learning and exploration.

Valorie loved traveling throughout the United States, especially to the beach, where she enjoyed shell hunting. She found joy in visiting national parks and spending time in the mountains. An enthusiastic bargain hunter, she also loved shopping and was always delighted to find a great deal. She had a special appreciation for nature and enjoyed collecting rocks and crystals.

She is survived by her husband, David Brown; son, Mark Brown (April Brown); son-in-law, David Luke; and her grandchildren, Robert Luke, Elizabeth Luke, and Audrey Brown.

Valorie was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Luke; father, Lloyd Feley; mother and stepfather, Mae and Robert Hackett; as well as many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery after the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
